Marie Elene Boute, a French stylist, created the company Mandalay upon being seduced by the unusual, yet old-fashioned, charm of Vientiane, the Lao capital, where she has been living since 1992. A landlocked, untouched country whose soul run along the Mekong waterway, Laos combines distinctive epochs and styles: a nostalgia for its colonial past and the elegance which graces the decorative artwork of its pagodas.
The Mandalay Collection is a marriage of these two styles, as well as a recognition of the artistic and cultural vibrancy of Laos which turns each object into a unique work of art. Whether inspired by colonial influences ( French, Dutch, Anglo-Indian) or creation, each piece of Mandalay furniture is unique, assembled by hand in our workshop, and guaranteed in dried rosewood. |
